A lot of people ask us how we pick the wines on our list. All of our wines are from small California producers, from there we look for a few things:
The wine must taste great. Taste is subjective, but we have different palates and the two of us must agree it’s a well-made, well-balanced wine that we’re excited to drink. It also must be from a producer we want to work with. We’re fortunate to have personal relationships with practically all the winemakers on our list. Some of them keg wines just for us. And we know they put as much love into their wine as we do to Wine Down. The wine must be a good value. That means it is the best wine we can find at a given price point. We try our hardest to maintain a $10/glass average, and that’s no easy feat. From there, we also ensure there’s a good balance on our list with solid representation of different varietals and styles. We change the list frequently, so there’s usually something new. Want to see a certain wine/winemaker on the list? Let us know!
