Tomorrow, April 4, is Equal Pay Day. We hope you’ll join us from 4-10 pm to drink up and raise funds for equal rights. The date of Equal Pay Day symbolizes how many more days women must work to earn what men were paid in 2016. In other words, the average woman must have worked all of 2016 and through April 4, 2017 to be paid what a man was paid in 2016 alone. On average, women make 20% less than men; black women make 37% less (so they would have to work until July 31 to catch up); Hispanic women 46% less (so they would have to work until Nov 2 to catch up). **Takes big gulp of wine.** To honor this day and acknowledge the wage gap, we’re donating 20% of our proceeds from Equal Pay Day to the National Organization for Women (NOW), whose aim is to “achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.” Equal Pay Day, April 4 Wine Down 685 Folsom, 4-10 pm 20% of proceeds to The National Organization for Women (NOW) It’s important we recognize this wage gap exists and the impact it can have women, families, and society. If you’d like to learn more, check out the National Committee on Pay Equity and join us tomorrow to Wine Down and Drink Up! Cheers, Jaime & Sarah

Well, Wine Down Bachelor Nation, we made it through 11 weeks together, and that’s a wrap!
Looking back, it was pretty obvious Nick was always going to choose Vanessa; he made that clear back in episode 2 when he couldn’t stop making out with her while she was throwing up. Was this a successful season of The Bachelor? We suppose that depends on how you define success. Did it result in two people finding true love and the key to a lifetime of marital bliss? Meh. But did it bring us a dolphin-shark, a platinum vagine, and the first black Bachelorette? Yes, yes it did. Speaking of the Bachelorette, mark your calendars: Rachel will be back in our lives starting Monday, May 22, and you know we’ll be watching (we already love her so much it hurts). We hope you’ll join us for the laughs, tears, kisses, games, prizes, and deep discussion! Thanks to all of you for making this season so much fun, and congratulations again to Sally S. and Hannah F. (pictured below) for dominating our Bachelor Bracket and winning a bounty of Wine Down & Bachelor goodies. This could be you at the end of next season: Well, Wine Down Bachelor Nation: We’ve made it through 10 weeks together, and now we’re down to our final two: Frontrunner Vanessa and Dark Horse Raven. I guess Nick likes long-haired brunettes. As heartbreaking as it was to see Rachel go, let’s take solace in the fact that we’ll have a whole season to watch her as the Bachelorette (starting in May). But in the meantime…we still have 3 hours of Bachelor left to watch together! Are you Team Vanessa or Team Raven? Or Team Nick-remains-single-for-life? Come cheer on your fave for the Finale + “After the Final Rose” Today at Wine Down, starting at 8. We’ll have popcorn, (drinking) games, and prizes, plus we’ll announce the grand prize winner and runner up of our Bachelor Bracket! Speaking of winners, there was a 6-way tie for our weekly game last week: Hani A, Naomi V., Sally S., Sarah D., Shannon Z., and Tiffany C. We’ll have a tie-breaker question ready on Monday, and whoever gets it right will win our one-of-a-kind “will you accept this rosé?” wine glass + a Wine Down tee. |
