Thanks to all of you who came out to celebrate women and to support women entrepreneurs on March 8, International Women’s Day. Together, we invested over $850 in Thanh Tham, a woman winemaker in rural Vietnam. Thanh has been making and selling wine for the past 10 years and needed some additional capital to maintain her small bar. How cool is that?!
Next Up: Tues, April 10, is Equal Pay Day. We hope you’ll join us from 3-10 pm to drink up and raise funds for equal rights.
The date of Equal Pay Day symbolizes how many more days women must work to earn what men were paid in 2017. In other words, the average woman must have worked all of 2017 through April 10, 2018 to be paid what a man was paid in 2017 alone.
On average, women make 20% less than men; black women make 37% less (working until Aug 7 to catch up); Latina women 46% less (working until Nov 1 to catch up). **Takes big gulp of wine.**
Sound familiar? Last year, Equal Pay Day was April 4. We have not moved the needle, yet. Well, we think we can all agree, #TimesUp.
Because one form of discrimination often leads to another, on top of getting paid less to do the same work, women often enounter sexual harassment, assault, and abuse in the workplace. It’s important we recognize the vast inequities that are present in the workplace and the impact they can have women, families, and society.
We’ll continue raising awareness of these issues and supporting organizations working to fight for justice, and we hope you’ll join us:

Thanks for reading this--we know it’s different than our normal emails full of unicorns and glitter, but we wanted to shed some light on this important issue and hopefully, inspire action. Please do what you can to make your workplaces safe, fair, and equitable for all, and, as always, thanks for your support!
