La Luna Cupcakes (Latinx woman-owned), San Francisco California About La Luna Cupcakes: Ever since she was a young girl, Elvia loved eating cakes at parties. But, being one of six children, her household rarely ever had sweets. Once she grew up she found many pretty cakes to be overly sweet or other cakes didn't have great decorations. She took pastry and decoration classes, and is now known for her new flavors, innovative decorations, and use of locally grown and fresh products that aren't too sugary, but are very tasty and beautiful. |

For example, for the maple syrup in the almonds is from a family owned farm in Vermont and the artisanal olive oil and rosemary is from family owned producer in California. |

CC Made (Asian woman-owned), Berkeley, CA About CC Made: Cassandra did not initially pursue a career in caramel making. As a UC Davis graduate with a degree in finance and international relations, Cassandra worked for Bank of America on the foreign exchange trading floor. But “as a currency trader, brokers took us to the most amazing restaurants. It opened up a whole new world for me,” Cassandra Chen recalls. “I realized that, even though my family’s expectation was that I would stay in my successful professional career, it just wasn’t for me.” She started working in pastry kitchens and eventually founded CC Made. |
