For Katie's season of The Bachelorette, we donated a portion of sales from each Bachelorette Monday to Media Action Network for Asian Americans (MANAA) to help hold networks accountable for diversity in front of and behind the camera. According to the UCLA Hollywood Diversity Report, the most underrepresented groups across all job categories relative to their presence in the U.S. are Latino, Asian and Native, and we're well aware this particular TV show fits that troubling trend and has so many other. . . um, issues.
For Michelle's season, we are donating a portion of sales from each Bachelorette Tuesday to Color Of Change Hollywood and their work to change the written and unwritten rules that shape content development, production, distribution, and impact in the entertainment industry. Film and television shows (including The Bachelorette) have an undeniable effect on public perception and social behaviors, yet when it comes to representation of Black people, far too often, much of the content reinforces ideas that hold back progress on racial justice in the real world. So we want to do want we can to support necessary changes to the industry and we hope you join us!
